The SECO 17007041 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding material removal and finishing operations in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Built to Series S545R specifications, it features a 5/8-inch diameter, a 0.0200-inch corner radius, and five flutes with a high-helix geometry at 45 degrees. The AlTiN coating, applied via PVD process, provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting abrasive and heat-resistant alloys. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and is designed for use in straight-cylindrical toolholders.
This tool is suited for finishing passes on workpieces made from steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials where a controlled corner radius is required to reduce stress concentrations and meet tight geometric tolerances. The stub-length profile with a 3/4-inch length of cut and 3-inch overall length provides rigidity in close-clearance fixturing setups. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production shops, aerospace component manufacturing, and precision mold work will find this geometry appropriate for controlled-depth side milling and contour finishing operations.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 5/8-inch shank diameter. Suitable for CNC machining centers running right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping specifications. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the minimum recommended grip length before tightening. Verify runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0005 inch after installation to maintain tolerance and tool life.
