The SECO 17007039 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for finishing operations in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It features a 0.75-inch mill diameter, a 0.0150-inch corner radius, and five flutes with a high-helix spiral configuration for improved chip evacuation and surface finish quality. The cutting geometry is right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting, with a normal pitch and no chipbreaker. An AlTiN physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in abrasive and high-temperature machining environments. This is a single-end, center-cutting tool suitable for plunging and peripheral milling.
The 17007039 is engineered for finishing cuts in CNC machining centers and milling operations where tight tolerances and superior surface finish are required. Its short length classification and straight cylindrical shank make it well-suited for use in standard toolholders on vertical and horizontal machining centers. Target applications include die and mold work, aerospace component machining, and precision part manufacturing where materials such as hardened steels and superalloys demand a robust PVD-coated carbide tool. It is not designed for roughing or extended-reach setups.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders accepting a 0.75-inch straight cylindrical shank. Part of the SECO S545R series of corner radius end mills for finishing in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician using a compatible toolholder rated for the 0.75-inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is properly seated and torqued in the holder before operation. Verify runout does not exceed the specified maximum TIR of 0.0005 inches before engaging the workpiece. Consult the machine tool builder and applicable shop safety standards for speeds, feeds, and clamping procedures appropriate to the workpiece material and operation.
