The SECO 17007033 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. It features a 0.5-inch diameter, a 0.0200-inch corner radius, and five right-hand spiral flutes with a high-helix geometry at 45 degrees. The cutting surfaces are coated with AlTiN via a PVD process, providing thermal resistance and extended tool life when machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. At 3 inches overall length with a 1.25-inch length of cut, this single-end, centercutting tool handles both plunge and peripheral milling. It belongs to the S545R series and is intended for use in standard toolholders with a straight cylindrical shank.
This end mill is suited for finishing passes on ferrous and exotic alloys in CNC machining centers across job shop, aerospace, and general manufacturing environments. Its AlTiN coating and solid carbide substrate make it particularly effective in dry or minimal-coolant cutting conditions at elevated speeds. The S545R series is designed for applications where tight tolerances and smooth surface finishes are required on steel and high-temperature alloys. Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the toolholder bore is clean and within tolerance before seating the shank, as the shank diameter tolerance is tight (-0.0001 to -0.0004 inches). Confirm runout does not exceed the specified TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches after installation. Power down and lock out the spindle before tool changes, and verify all clamping torque specifications per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines.
