The SECO 17007029 is a solid carbide, single-end corner radius end mill designed for high-precision finishing operations in demanding materials. It carries a 0.5-inch milling diameter with a 0.0450-inch corner radius, a 5/8-inch length of cut, and a 2.5-inch overall length. The five-flute geometry with a high-helix spiral configuration promotes efficient chip evacuation and a smooth surface finish. An AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating extends tool life when cutting ferrous and high-hardness materials. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.5 inches in diameter, providing a secure grip in standard end mill toolholders. This tool is installed and used by machinists and CNC programmers in production and job-shop environments.
The 17007029 belongs to the SECO S545R series and is engineered for finishing cuts in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its stub-length profile and normal pitch make it well suited to applications where rigidity and dimensional accuracy are priorities over extended reach. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC machining centers. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry where required. This end mill targets applications where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required on difficult-to-machine workpiece materials.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. The 0.5-inch straight cylindrical shank fits ER collet chucks, side-lock holders, and shrink-fit holders dimensioned for 0.5-inch shank tooling. Part of the SECO S545R series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine controls in a safe state per shop lockout-tagout procedures. Verify toolholder runout does not exceed the maximum TIR specification of 0.0005 inches before committing to a finishing pass. Do not exceed the 5/8-inch length of cut; excessive axial engagement beyond the flute length will damage the tool and workpiece. Confirm cutting parameters against the SECO S545R series application data for the specific workpiece material before running.
