The SECO 17007028 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. Built to Series S545R specifications, this single-end, centercutting tool features a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 0.0300-inch corner radius, and five right-hand spiral flutes with a high helix angle of 45 degrees. The AlTiN PVD coating provides excellent heat resistance and wear life when cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 0.625-inch length of cut, this stub-length tool is optimized for rigidity in tight-tolerance finishing work. It is installed and applied by CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals in precision machining environments.
This end mill is suited for finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, titanium, superalloys, and hard materials in both mold-and-die and general precision machining applications. The stub-length geometry and solid carbide construction minimize deflection during finish cuts, making it a practical choice for close-tolerance contouring, profiling, and slotting on CNC machining centers. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole, adding application flexibility in multi-operation setups.
Compatible with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Designed for use on CNC machining centers processing steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as defined by material codes P, M, S, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully in a compatible toolholder and torque retention screws or collet nuts per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout against the stated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches before beginning a finishing pass.
