The SECO 17007026 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 0.0150 inch corner radius that blends strength with precision at the cutting edge. The tool carries an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating, which extends tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. With 5 flutes and a high-helix spiral geometry, it is built for smooth chip evacuation and tight surface finish tolerances. It is installed and run by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC milling equipment paired with standard toolholders.
This end mill is suited for finishing passes on ferrous and exotic alloys in aerospace, medical, and general precision machining environments. The stub-length configuration and straight-cylindrical shank provide rigidity for maintaining dimensional accuracy in tough workpiece materials. It is a single-end, centercutting tool with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction. The S545R series designation places it in a recognized SECO high-performance finishing line used across CNC machining centers and vertical mills.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders. The 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic holders sized for 1/2 inch shanks. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as noted in the SECO S545R series application data.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Secure the shank to the recommended torque spec for the toolholder type per the toolholder manufacturer instructions. Verify runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0005 inch before beginning a finishing pass.
