The SECO 17007012 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal and finishing operations in demanding machining environments. Built to the S545R series specification, it features a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) mill diameter, a 0.0150 inch corner radius, and five flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with a 45-degree high helix angle. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting hard or abrasive workpiece materials. Single-end, centercutting geometry allows plunge entry and full-slot milling. This tool is sized and configured for use in standard cylindrical toolholders on CNC machining centers.
The 17007012 is suited for finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its stub-length flute geometry and high helix angle are optimized for shops running tight-tolerance work where surface finish and edge integrity at corners are critical. It is a single-end tool with a straight-cylindrical shank, making it compatible with collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, and hydraulic toolholders commonly used in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with standard cylindrical toolholders as noted in the S545R series specification. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, S, and H indicate suitability for steel, stainless steel, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the toolholder bore and shank diameter are clean and within tolerance before seating the tool; the shank diameter tolerance is -0.0001 to -0.0004 inch. Confirm runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0005 inch after clamping. Review speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material and machine before beginning a cut, and never exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended parameters for this flute count and coating.
