The SECO 17007009 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. It features a 3/8 inch diameter with a 0.0200 inch corner radius and five flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with a high-helix geometry at 45 degrees. The AlTiN PVD coating provides heat resistance and wear protection suited for dry or near-dry machining. With a 1 inch length of cut and 2.5 inch overall length, this single-end, centercutting tool is handled by machinists working on precision components in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It mounts in standard straight-bore toolholders via a 3/8 inch cylindrical shank.
This end mill is built for finishing passes on ferrous and exotic materials where edge integrity and dimensional accuracy are critical. Primary workpiece material classifications include P (steel), M (stainless steel), S (superalloys and titanium), and H (hard material), making it applicable across aerospace, medical, die and mold, and general precision machining environments. The corner radius geometry reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and improves surface finish compared to a sharp-corner tool. It belongs to the SECO S545R series.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders. Suited for CNC machining centers running finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Part of the SECO S545R series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per shop safety procedures. Ensure the toolholder bore and shank are clean and free of chips before seating. Verify runout against the TIR maximum specification after clamping. Consult the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for set screw or collet engagement.
