The SECO 17007005 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. Built on the S545R series platform, it features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and five flutes with a high-helix spiral geometry at 45 degrees. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, making it suitable for dry or semi-dry cutting in hard materials. At 2 inches overall length with a 1/2 inch length of cut, this is a stub-length tool designed for rigidity and reduced deflection. It is a single-end, centercutting design with right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and milling operations where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are critical. Its primary application is finishing passes in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The stub-length configuration keeps the tool stable in short-reach setups. It is intended for use with standard straight-bore toolholders and collet chucks. A normal pitch flute spacing and fixed helix angle make it predictable in multi-pass finishing programs where chatter control and consistent chip evacuation are required.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders and collet chucks accepting a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Part of the SECO S545R series.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered off and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Ensure the toolholder bore and collet are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Verify runout does not exceed the specified TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches after clamping. Consult machine and toolholder manufacturer specifications for appropriate clamping torque values.
