The SECO 17007000 is a solid carbide, 5-flute corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. It carries an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating that extends tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The 5/16-inch diameter cutter runs a 45-degree high helix with a 0.020-inch corner radius, producing smooth surface finishes while reducing chipping at the cutting edge. It is single-end and center-cutting, making it capable of plunging as well as profiling. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace, and general metalworking environments are the primary users.
This end mill fits standard straight-cylindrical shank toolholders with a 5/16-inch shank. The 13/16-inch length of cut (0.8125 inches) and 2.5-inch overall length suit typical side milling, slotting, and finishing passes in steel and stainless steel components. The Series S545R platform targets finishing of hard and difficult-to-machine alloys where tool geometry and coating quality are critical to part quality and cycle time. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC machining center setups.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical shank toolholders. Suited for CNC machining centers running right-hand cutting operations in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Part of the SECO Series S545R end mill platform.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before inserting or removing the end mill. Confirm runout against the specified TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches after clamping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque specifications for set screws or collet nuts — do not estimate.
