The SECO 17006989 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for finishing operations in demanding materials. It runs a 1/4 inch diameter with a 3/8 inch length of cut and a 0.0300 inch corner radius, ground to a tight tolerance of plus or minus 0.00100 inch. The 5-flute, single-end geometry with a 45-degree high helix promotes chip evacuation and surface finish quality. An AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and hardness retention at elevated cutting temperatures. This tool is center-cutting and uses a straight-cylindrical 1/4 inch shank, compatible with standard toolholders used in CNC machining environments.
This end mill is suited for finishing passes in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The short flute length and high helix make it appropriate for close-tolerance profiling, slotting, and contouring where surface integrity and dimensional accuracy are required. It is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool intended for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines where rigid toolholding is available. The Series S545R designation identifies it within SECO's corner radius finishing line.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as specified by SECO material codes P, M, S, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder to the recommended gauge line and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Confirm runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0005 inch before beginning the cut.
