The SECO 17006988 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. Part of the S545R series, it features a 1/4 inch diameter, a 0.0200 inch corner radius, and five flutes with a 45-degree high helix spiral configuration. The AlTiN PVD coating improves heat resistance and tool life when cutting ferrous and hard materials. Designed for single-end, right-hand cutting with centercutting capability, it installs directly into standard straight-shank toolholders. The 1/4 inch shank and 2 inch overall length suit compact toolpath requirements on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is intended for finishing passes in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials classified under material codes P, M, S, and H. The short flute length of 3/8 inch and high-helix geometry reduce deflection and improve surface finish in tight-tolerance applications. It is used in aerospace, tool-and-die, and precision manufacturing environments where edge integrity and dimensional accuracy are critical. A licensed machinist or CNC tooling technician typically selects and installs this tool.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch shank. Suitable for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines running steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (material codes P, M, S, H) as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down or disable the spindle and engage any machine lock-out procedure before changing tooling. Confirm toolholder bore cleanliness and shank seating before tightening to avoid runout exceeding the 0.0005 inch maximum TIR specification. Do not use this end mill for heavy roughing passes; it is rated for finishing material removal only.
