The SECO 17006983 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for finishing operations in demanding materials. It features a 3/16 inch diameter, a 0.0150 inch corner radius, and five flutes with a 45-degree high helix angle. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear resistance, making this tool well suited for cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. At 2 inches overall length with a 5/16 inch length of cut, it is a short-length design that maximizes rigidity and minimizes deflection during precision finishing passes. It is centercutting and runs in a right-hand cutting direction.
This end mill is designed for finishing applications where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are critical. It is used in CNC machining centers and milling machines across aerospace, medical, die and mold, and general precision machining environments. The short flute length and solid carbide construction make it particularly effective in harder workpiece materials where tool deflection must be controlled. It accepts standard straight-cylindrical toolholders with a 3/16 inch shank bore.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders. Part of the SECO S545R series of corner radius end mills for finishing in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the toolholder bore and shank are clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the tool. Verify runout at the cutting edge after installation, as maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0005 inches. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when securing and testing the tool prior to cutting.
