The SECO 17006982 is a 5-flute, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding materials. With a 0.125 inch mill diameter, a 0.5 inch length of cut, and a 0.0200 inch corner radius, this tool delivers controlled edge geometry suited for fine detail work and tight-tolerance profiles. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, making it well-suited for dry or semi-dry cutting in hard and abrasive workpiece materials. It is a single-end, centercutting tool with a right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting action, part of the SECO S545R series. Machinists and CNC operators in precision manufacturing environments are the primary users.
This end mill is intended for finishing passes in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its long-length configuration, 45-degree high helix angle, and normal pitch make it appropriate for applications requiring smooth surface finish and accurate corner radii in mold, die, aerospace, and medical component machining. The straight-cylindrical shank mounts directly into standard toolholders. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or air blast should be used as the application requires.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 0.125 inch cylindrical shank. Part of the SECO S545R series, intended for finishing operations in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials with a primary workpiece material code of P, M, S, and H.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool path program verified before mounting or removing the tool. Confirm toolholder runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch maximum TIR specification to maintain dimensional accuracy. Torque the toolholder retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer guidelines, not the end mill specification.
