The SECO 17006981 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for finishing operations in demanding materials. Part of the S545R series, it features a 1/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.0150 inch corner radius, and five flutes with a high-helix, right-hand spiral geometry. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal and wear resistance needed when cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Overall length is 1.5 inches with a 0.5 inch length of cut. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry. This tool is intended for use in CNC machining centers and compatible toolholders.
This end mill is suited for finish milling applications in aerospace, die and mold, and general precision machining environments where tight tolerances and surface finish matter. It targets primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials. The long-length flute configuration supports deeper axial engagements within its rated cut length. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard collet chucks and end mill holders. Typical users include CNC machinists and toolroom operators running finish passes on hardened or high-temperature alloy components.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys and titanium, and hard materials. Series S545R.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or toolroom personnel. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder specification before engaging the spindle. Verify tool runout against the rated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches using a dial indicator before beginning a finishing pass. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an idle or tool-change state before inserting or removing the end mill.
