The SECO 17005015 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials. Part of the DIALB430 series, it features a CVD diamond coating that delivers exceptional hardness and wear resistance for cutting abrasive materials such as graphite, carbon fiber, and reinforced composites. The tool has a 0.25 inch mill diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length. With four spiral flutes and a 30-degree medium helix angle, it provides efficient chip evacuation during both roughing and finishing operations. This end mill is single-end and right-hand cutting with a straight cylindrical shank.
This tool is suited for precision machining in CNC milling applications across aerospace, automotive, and die-mold industries where abrasion-resistant materials are common. The long series geometry and 0.25 inch shank diameter make it appropriate for reaching into deeper pockets or contoured surfaces while maintaining rigidity. Designed as an OEM-specification solid carbide ball end mill in the SECO DIALB430 series, compatible with CNC machining centers and manual mills using standard 1/4 inch collets or end mill holders accepting a straight cylindrical shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a safe, locked-out state. Seat the shank fully in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use; CVD diamond coatings are brittle and the tool should not be used on ferrous materials, as the coating is incompatible with iron-bearing workpieces. Follow the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material and machine setup.
