The SECO 17005013 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-precision milling in demanding applications. Part of the DIALB430 series, it features a 1/8 inch (0.1250 inch) mill diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length, making it an extra-long tool suited for deep-cavity work. The CVD diamond coating delivers exceptional hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in abrasive materials such as graphite, ceramics, composites, and hardened nonferrous alloys. With four flutes, a 30-degree helix angle, and right-hand cutting and flute direction, this end mill handles both roughing and finishing passes in a single setup. It is installed by machinists and tooling professionals working with CNC machining centers.
This ball end mill is well-suited for precision contouring, 3D profiling, and slotting in applications that require reach into deep pockets or complex geometries. The extra-long length of cut and straight-cylindrical shank allow secure toolholder engagement while maintaining access to features that shorter tools cannot reach. The centercutting geometry supports plunge entry as well as conventional lateral passes. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked before inserting or removing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout does not exceed the rated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches before beginning a cut; excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces surface finish quality.
