The SECO 17005010 is a 4-flute solid carbide square end mill engineered for machining carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) materials and other abrasive composites. It carries a CVD diamond coating that provides exceptional hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life significantly in abrasive cutting applications. The cutter measures 0.375 inches in diameter with a 1.375-inch length of cut and a 3.25-inch overall length. The micrograin carbide substrate supports the tight tolerances required in precision milling. This tool is installed and operated by CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in aerospace, automotive composite, and advanced manufacturing environments.
This end mill is designed for single-end use in applications involving CFRP and similarly abrasive composite materials where conventional coatings wear prematurely. The Series DIAL430 designation identifies it as a long-reach geometry within the SECO lineup. The straight shank fits standard ER and precision collet chuck systems. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation make it compatible with conventional CNC milling machine spindles running standard forward rotation. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling operations.

This tool is installed by qualified CNC machinists following standard machine tool lockout and spindle-stop procedures before any tool change. Seat the straight shank fully into a clean, undamaged collet or chuck to the specified clamping depth before tightening. Verify runout against the listed maximum TIR of 0.0005 inches after installation. When cutting CFRP, use appropriate respiratory and particulate controls per applicable shop safety and OSHA guidelines, as composite dust presents a health hazard.
