The SECO 17005006 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision milling in demanding applications. Built from micrograin carbide and coated with a CVD Diamond finish, it is designed primarily for cutting CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced polymer) materials where tool wear resistance is critical. The cutter measures 0.125 inches in diameter with a 1-inch length of cut and a 3-inch overall length. It features 4 spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle and a right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction. This is a single-end, straight-shank tool. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, composite fabrication, and precision manufacturing environments.
This end mill is suited for milling CFRP and other composite materials in CNC machining centers and manual milling operations where a long-reach, small-diameter cutter is required. The CVD Diamond coating extends tool life significantly when machining abrasive composite materials compared to uncoated carbide. The 0.125-inch shank diameter matches the cutter diameter for direct collet clamping in standard ER or precision collet systems. It is part of SECO Series DIAL430 and carries a long length classification with a length-of-cut range of 1.0000 to 1.2500 inches.

Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or changing the tool. Secure the 0.125-inch shank in a precision collet or toolholder appropriate for the diameter, torquing the collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specification. When milling CFRP, use appropriate respiratory and eye protection due to abrasive composite dust, and verify chip extraction systems are active before cutting.
