The SECO 17005000 is a solid carbide ball end mill from the DIAB430 series, designed for high-performance milling in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 3/16-inch (0.1875-inch) mill diameter with a matching 3/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank and a CVD diamond coating that delivers exceptional hardness and wear resistance on abrasive non-ferrous workpieces. With four right-hand spiral flutes and a 30-degree medium helix angle, it supports both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool. A nose radius of 0.0938 inches enables smooth contoured cuts and consistent surface finish. Licensed machinists and CNC machine operators in aerospace, automotive, and general precision machining shops are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where aluminum, composites, and other non-ferrous materials are the primary workpiece. The single-end, center-cutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional and climb milling. The standard-length configuration and 5/8-inch length of cut make it appropriate for shallow-to-moderate depth pocketing, contouring, and profile work on non-ferrous components. It is cataloged under SECO manufacturer number DIAB430-0.188-D3-B.0-Z4.
Designed for use with aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials (material code N) in standard CNC milling applications. Compatible with tool holders accepting a 3/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and all axes at rest. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly clamped in the tool holder to within the specified TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches to avoid runout that can damage the cutting edges. CVD diamond-coated tools are not recommended for ferrous materials, as iron promotes rapid coating degradation. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut when setting up this end mill.
