The SECO 17004999 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-precision milling in demanding machining applications. Built on the DIAB430 series platform, this single-end tool features a CVD diamond coating that significantly extends tool life when cutting abrasive materials such as graphite, carbon fiber reinforced polymers, and ceramics. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle supports both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The ball nose profile generates smooth contoured surfaces on complex 3D geometry. With a 0.125-inch mill diameter and 0.5-inch length of cut, this tool is suited for fine-detail work in tight pockets and profiling passes.
This end mill is used in CNC milling applications across aerospace, composites fabrication, mold and die, and precision manufacturing environments. The long-series overall length of 1.5 inches and straight cylindrical shank allow mounting in standard collet chucks and shrink-fit holders. It is appropriate for dry or near-dry cutting strategies common when machining with CVD diamond-coated tools, where coolant-through is not required. Machinists and CNC programmers working with non-ferrous and abrasive workpiece materials will find this tool suited to their finishing and light roughing needs.
Designed as an OEM-style cutting tool for use in CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers accepting a 0.125-inch straight cylindrical shank. Part of the SECO DIAB430 series; catalog reference DIAB430-0.125-D4-B.0-Z4.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom personnel with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Ensure the shank is fully seated and clamped within the specified shank diameter tolerance range before running the spindle. CVD diamond-coated tools should not be used on ferrous materials, as the coating will degrade rapidly; verify workpiece material compatibility before use. Follow machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for the collet nut or toolholder being used.
