The SECO 17004998 is a solid carbide ball end mill from the DIAB430 series, designed for high-performance milling of aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 3/32 inch (0.0938 inch) mill diameter with a CVD diamond coating, making it well suited for applications where tool wear resistance and surface finish quality are critical. The 4-flute, single-end geometry with a 30-degree medium helix and right-hand cutting direction delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This end mill is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in precision CNC milling environments.
This end mill is engineered for use on aluminum and non-ferrous workpieces, including applications involving graphite and composite materials where CVD diamond coatings provide significant advantages. With a 3/8 inch length of cut and 1-1/2 inch overall length, it fits standard CNC machining center tool holders using a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The long-length classification and DIAB430 series designation indicate suitability for finishing and light roughing passes in tight-tolerance work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for applications calling for SECO DIAB430 series ball end mills with a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material compatibility is aluminum and non-ferrous metals (Material Code N).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the spindle before tool changes. Seat the 1/8 inch shank fully in the tool holder and verify runout against the maximum TIR specification before beginning a cut. CVD diamond-coated tools should not be used on ferrous materials, as the coating degrades rapidly in contact with iron-bearing alloys.
