The SECO 17004989 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding cutting applications. Built on the DIA430 series platform, it features a CVD diamond coating that provides exceptional hardness and wear resistance, making it a direct fit for machining carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) materials. The tool measures 3/16 inch in diameter with a 5/8 inch length of cut and 2 inch overall length. A 4-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pilot hole.
This end mill is suited for single-end milling operations in industrial and aerospace machining environments where CFRP composites are common workpiece materials. The straight shank with a 3/16 inch diameter is compatible with standard collet systems. It is ideal for machinists and CNC operators working with abrasive composite materials that rapidly wear uncoated or PVD-coated tooling. The regular length configuration fits most vertical and horizontal CNC milling setups without requiring extended-reach holders.

Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout/tagout state before changing tooling. Seat the straight shank fully into the collet and torque the collet nut to the tool holder specification. When machining CFRP, use appropriate dust extraction and respiratory controls per applicable shop safety requirements, as composite dust presents a health hazard.
