The SECO 17004833 is a solid carbide ball end mill from the MBZ215 series, designed for high-performance milling in steel and hardened materials. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 2-flute right-hand spiral geometry, and a 15-degree low helix angle that promotes stability during both roughing and finishing passes. The cutting edge is coated with AlTiN via a PVD process, providing thermal resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and hardened workpiece materials. With an overall length of 3 inches and an extended reach configuration, this end mill suits applications requiring access to deeper features without sacrificing rigidity. Qualified machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments will find this tool well suited to precision contouring and profiling operations.
This end mill is applied in CNC vertical machining centers and milling machines where tight tolerances and clean ball-end profiles are required. The single-end, straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collets and tool holders accepting 3/8 inch shank diameters. Primary workpiece materials include steel and hardened materials, with material codes P and H under the ISO classification system. The extended reach and 3/4 inch reach length allow work in cavities, pockets, and contoured surfaces where shorter tools cannot safely reach. The centercutting geometry enables plunge entry as well as standard peripheral and slot milling.
Designed for use in CNC milling machines and machining centers with standard collet or tool holder systems accepting a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for steel and hardened material applications per ISO material codes P and H. Part of the SECO MBZ215 series; catalog number MBZ215-0.375-E1-B.0-Z2.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and in a safe, locked-out state. Ensure the collet or tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank to achieve proper runout specifications. Verify TIR does not exceed 0.0005 inches after tool installation to maintain diameter tolerance and surface finish. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting speeds and feeds for the workpiece material.
