The SECO 17004813 is a solid carbide ball end mill from the MB215 series, designed for precision milling in steel and hardened materials. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter with a 2-flute, right-hand spiral configuration and a low 15-degree helix angle. The tool carries a PVD-applied AlTiN coating for heat and wear resistance in demanding cutting environments. With an extended reach design and a 3/4 inch reach length, it suits deep-cavity and hard-to-access milling operations. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling professionals install and run this end mill in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
This end mill is suited for roughing and finishing operations on steel and hardened workpiece materials. The extended reach design and 3/8 inch length of cut make it appropriate for slot milling, profiling, and contour work where a standard-length tool cannot reach the feature. The 3-inch overall length and straight-cylindrical shank allow secure clamping in standard end mill holders and collet chucks without special adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide ball end mill for CNC machining centers using standard straight-cylindrical shank tool holders in 3/8 inch bore size, part of the SECO MB215 series (catalog number MB215-0.375-E1-B.0-Z2).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the clamping nut to the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout at the tool tip with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut.
