The SECO 17004809 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-precision milling of steel and hardened materials in machining and toolroom applications. Built to Series MB215 standards, this single-end tool features a 0.125 inch (1/8 inch) cutting diameter, a 15-degree low helix angle, and a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) AlTiN coating that provides heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. With a 2-flute spiral configuration and centercutting capability, it handles both roughing and finishing passes. The extended reach design and reduced neck diameter make it suitable for accessing recessed features and cavities in workpieces.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling equipment where tight-tolerance profiling, slotting, and contour work is required. Its right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction suit standard spindle setups. The AlTiN coating and solid carbide substrate make it particularly well matched for steel and hardened material applications where heat generation and wear are primary concerns. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet and end mill holder systems.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC and manual milling setups using straight-cylindrical shank collet systems, suitable for machining steel and hardened materials per primary workpiece material codes P and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or collet is de-energized before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the collet or end mill holder to the recommended grip length before torquing the retention hardware. Verify TIR does not exceed the rated 0.0005 inch maximum using a dial indicator before beginning a production run.
