The SECO 17004778 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in steel and hard material applications. It features a 0.5 inch diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and six flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral with a 45-degree high helix angle. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life under aggressive cutting conditions. With a short flute length of 1.125 inches and a 4 inch overall length, this tool is sized for controlled material removal in tight setups. It is centercutting and capable of both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this end mill in compatible toolholders for high-performance milling operations.
This end mill is suited for machining steel and hard materials in CNC milling centers and manual mills. The MZ645R series is built for shops running close-pitch, high-helix applications where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. The straight-cylindrical shank accepts standard collet and shrink-fit toolholders. It performs well in applications requiring consistent corner radii on profiled workpieces, slots, and pockets in ferrous and hardened materials.

This tool is installed by machinists or CNC operators into compatible toolholders; verify runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum before machining. Ensure the toolholder bore and shank mating surfaces are clean and free of debris before seating the end mill. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety standards when setting tool length offsets and cutting parameters.
