The SECO 17004777 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling in hardened materials and steel. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with an AlTiN finish, this tool delivers heat resistance and wear life in demanding cutting environments. Key geometry includes a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, 1 inch length of cut, and a 45-degree helix angle with spiral fluting. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional milling setups. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pilot hole. This tool is sized for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where tight tolerances and tool life matter.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on hardened steels and general steel stock in both job shop and production environments. The 3/8 inch straight shank fits standard collets and tool holders commonly found in machining centers. The 6-flute design supports higher feed rates and improved surface finish on ferrous materials. The Series MZ645 designation identifies this tool within the SECO high-performance end mill line, intended for finishing and semi-finishing passes in hard material applications.
Designed as a replacement or direct-specification end mill for machining hardened materials and steel; compatible with any machine tool accepting a 3/8 inch straight shank in a standard collet or end mill holder. Series MZ645.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention mechanism to the machine manufacturer specification. Verify runout after installation; maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0005 inches. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable OSHA machining guidelines when operating.
