The SECO 17004776 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in steel and hard materials. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 0.0200 inch corner radius that extends tool life and reduces edge chipping on demanding workpieces. With 6 flutes and a 45-degree high helix angle, it delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes in both roughing and finishing operations. An AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and hardness at elevated cutting temperatures. This is a single-end, centercutting tool in the SECO MZ645R series.
This end mill is suited for production and job-shop environments where steel and hard material milling are routine. The close-pitch, 6-flute configuration supports higher feed rates and improved surface finish on ferrous alloys and hardened steels. It is used in CNC machining centers with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders and is appropriate for both roughing passes and finish contouring where a corner radius profile is required. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant or mist lubrication is standard practice for this tool.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders. Optimized for steel and hard material workpiece applications as indicated by Primary Workpiece Material Code P and H.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated. Ensure toolholder collet or chuck is clean and within runout specification before mounting — the TIR maximum for this tool is 0.0005 inches. Verify shank diameter tolerance compatibility with the toolholder prior to clamping. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety standards when setting tool offsets and programming feeds and speeds.
