The SECO 17004771 is a single-end square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN, it is engineered to run at elevated temperatures and maintain cutting-edge integrity in hardened materials and steel. The 6-flute geometry combined with a 45-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduced vibration. With a 0.1875-inch cutting diameter, 0.5-inch length of cut, and 3-inch overall length, this end mill fits standard toolholders used in CNC milling centers across job shops and production environments. It is center-cutting and uses a right-hand cut with right-hand flute spiral.
This end mill is suited for finish and semi-finish milling of hardened steels and ferrous alloys where tool life and dimensional accuracy are critical. The AlTiN coating provides oxidation resistance and thermal hardness, making it appropriate for dry or minimal-lubrication cutting strategies. The Series MZ645 designation places it within SECO's line of carbide end mills optimized for ISO P and ISO H workpiece material groups. A straight-cylindrical shank with 0.25-inch diameter provides secure clamping in collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders commonly used in precision machining setups.
Designed for machining hardened materials and steel (ISO material groups H and P). Part of the SECO Series MZ645 solid carbide end mill line. Fits standard 0.25-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Before mounting, confirm toolholder runout does not exceed the maximum TIR specification to protect cutting-edge integrity. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully within the toolholder to the recommended gauge-line depth before tightening. Verify spindle direction and programmed feed and speed parameters are appropriate for the workpiece material before initiating the cut.
