The SECO 17004725 is a solid carbide roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built on the AR330 series platform, it features a 1-inch mill diameter, 3 flutes with a coarse pitch configuration, and a TiCN coating that improves surface hardness and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The 2-inch length of cut and 4-inch overall length make it suited for standard-depth profiling and slotting passes. Right-hand cutting and right-hand spiral flute geometry deliver efficient chip evacuation during roughing cycles. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry. This tool is installed and run by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, and general metalworking environments.
The 17004725 is used in vertical and horizontal milling centers, CNC machining centers, and manual knee mills where high-volume stock removal is the priority. Its M42 material grade and TiCN finish support use in ferrous and non-ferrous alloys where tool life under load is critical. The straight cylindrical shank with a 1-inch shank diameter accepts standard ER, Weldon, and hydraulic toolholders sized for 1-inch shanks. The coarse pitch geometry reduces cutting forces and helps prevent chatter on longer overhangs or less rigid setups.
Designed as a standard single-end roughing end mill with a 1-inch straight cylindrical shank, compatible with toolholders and collet systems sized for 1-inch shank diameters on CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine powered down and spindle locked. Verify toolholder bore size matches the 1-inch shank diameter before seating the tool. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as shank diameter tolerance runs from -0.0001 to -0.0004 inches. Follow the machine manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer torque recommendations for drawbar or set screw retention.
