The SECO 17004715 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from solid carbide with a TiCN coating, this tool handles demanding cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 3/8-inch diameter, a 1-inch length of cut, and a 2.5-inch overall length. The coarse-pitch, 3-flute spiral geometry with a right-hand cutting direction and 30-degree maximum helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup during heavy roughing passes. Licensed machinists and toolroom professionals use this style of end mill in CNC and manual milling setups where fast stock removal is the priority.
This roughing end mill fits standard 3/8-inch straight-shank toolholders and is suited for use on vertical mills, machining centers, and CNC knee mills. The coarse pitch geometry makes it well suited for roughing operations in steel, stainless, and similar alloys. The centercutting design allows for plunge milling entry without a pre-drilled hole, expanding its versatility in setup-constrained applications. The TiCN coating adds surface hardness and lubricity, extending tool life in abrasive cutting environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill for 3/8-inch straight-shank toolholders in standard milling and machining center setups.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the collet or end mill holder to the depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer, and verify runout before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the tool's rated depth of cut or feed rate for the material being machined.
