The SECO 17004691 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from solid carbide with an M42 material grade designation, this tool features 3 spiral flutes with a coarse pitch geometry and a 30-degree maximum helix angle. The 45-degree chamfer angle aids in entry cuts and edge breaking. At 0.75 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut and 4-inch overall length, it is sized for standard vertical and horizontal milling setups. A bright, uncoated finish means it ships ready to use without additional surface treatment. This cutter is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians working in production and job-shop environments.
This roughing end mill is suited for high-speed stock removal passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where surface finish is secondary to material removal rate. The coarse pitch flute design breaks chips aggressively, reducing heat buildup and re-cutting of chips during deep passes. The straight-cylindrical shank at 0.75 inches diameter fits standard ER and side-lock collet systems. It is a right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, supporting ramping and helical interpolation strategies.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill compatible with standard straight-cylindrical collet and side-lock toolholders accepting a 0.75-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer, and verify runout before cutting. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate are set per the material and depth-of-cut requirements before engaging the workpiece. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use — carbide end mills should not be used if edge integrity is compromised.
