The SECO 17004690 is a solid carbide roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built to a 3/4 inch diameter with a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank, it delivers stable cutting performance with minimal deflection. The three-flute coarse-pitch geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation during heavy cuts. With a 1 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length, this single-end tool is suited for slotting, profiling, and roughing passes where speed and chip load are the priority. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry without a pilot hole. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machining professionals and tool crib operators will recognize this as a production-grade roughing tool.
The 17004690 is used in CNC vertical and horizontal milling centers as well as manual knee mills running appropriate feeds and speeds for solid carbide. Its right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling. The coarse pitch and 30-degree maximum helix angle reduce cutting forces and heat buildup during roughing passes in steel, cast iron, and similar materials. This tool is part of the SECO AR330 series and is appropriate for job shops, production floors, and maintenance machining environments where a reliable roughing end mill with consistent dimensional tolerances is required.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide roughing end mill in the SECO AR330 series, compatible with standard 3/4 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling arbors used in CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Secure the shank fully within the holder to the recommended engagement depth per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications, and ensure runout is checked before production cuts. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Do not exceed the tool's rated cutting parameters for the workpiece material.
