The SECO 17004675 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from solid carbide with an AlTiN coating, it delivers excellent heat resistance and tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The 4-flute, fine-pitch spiral geometry with a right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction promotes chip evacuation and reduces chatter during heavy roughing passes. At 0.75 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut and 4-inch overall length, this tool fits standard milling chucks and Weldon flat retention setups used across production and job-shop environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in both vertical and horizontal milling machines. The AlTiN coating makes it well matched to dry or near-dry cutting of steel, stainless, and hardened materials. The Weldon flat shank ensures positive drive retention in side-lock tool holders, which is important when taking heavy radial cuts. The 45-degree chamfer angle and 0.025-inch chamfer width help prevent edge chipping at entry. It is a solid choice for production environments running high-feed or high-speed roughing strategies where consistent tool geometry is critical.
Designed for use in standard 3/4-inch Weldon flat side-lock tool holders on CNC and manual milling machines. Compatible with holders accepting a 3/4-inch shank with Weldon flat drive geometry.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Power down and lock out the spindle before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the Weldon flat fully against the set screw before tightening to ensure proper drive engagement and prevent axial pullout. Confirm runout with an indicator after installation and before beginning cuts.
