The SECO 17004672 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. Built from solid carbide with an AlTiN coating, it delivers heat resistance and extended tool life in high-speed applications. The mill measures 0.625 inches in diameter with a 4-flute, right-hand spiral configuration and a fine pitch for chip load control. A 45-degree chamfer angle and 0.025-inch chamfer width support controlled entry cuts. The 0.75-inch length of cut and 3-inch overall length make this tool well suited for short, rigid setups where vibration control is a priority.
This roughing end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where stock removal rate is the primary objective. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive and minimizes pullout in heavy interrupted cuts. The AlTiN coating performs well in ferrous materials, hardened steels, and cast iron at elevated cutting temperatures. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry without pre-drilling. It is typically installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with precision CNC or manual milling equipment.
Designed for use in standard ER collet chucks and Weldon flat-style end mill holders with a 5/8-inch bore, as specified by the Weldon flat shank configuration of this tool.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols and machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the holder and torque the set screw against the flat per the tool holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout accelerates tool wear and reduces dimensional accuracy.
