The SECO 17004156 is a 4-flute, single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN via PVD process, it delivers hardness and heat resistance well-suited for demanding cutting conditions. The tool features a 40-degree high helix angle and right-hand spiral flutes, promoting efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. It is rated for both roughing and finishing passes, making it a versatile option for machinists working in production or job-shop environments. The 0.0625-inch nose radius defines the ball end profile for contoured surface work.
This end mill is engineered for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. At 1/8 inch in diameter with a 3/8-inch length of cut and 1-1/2-inch overall length, it is well-suited for small-feature milling, slotting, and profiling on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard 1/8-inch collets. This is a standard-length, non-extended-reach tool and does not include coolant-through capability. It belongs to SECO's STB440 series.
Designed for use in standard 1/8-inch collet toolholding systems on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Compatible with workpiece materials coded P, M, K, N, and S per ISO material classification, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians using a standard collet chuck sized for 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shanks. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the tool. Verify collet runout does not exceed the tool TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches to maintain cut quality and tool life. Confirm cutting parameters are appropriate for the workpiece material before engaging the cut.
