The SECO 17004141 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 0.0300 inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and improves surface finish in hardened or abrasive workpieces. The AlCrN PVD coating provides heat and oxidation resistance, extending tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. At 3 inches overall length with a 1/2 inch Weldon flat shank, this end mill mounts securely in standard toolholders and is suited for both roughing and finishing operations on CNC machining centers.
This end mill is built for machinists and toolroom professionals working on CNC mills and machining centers where tight tolerances and tool life in hard materials are critical. The STR440 series targets applications in aerospace, medical, and precision manufacturing where stainless steel, superalloys such as Inconel, and titanium alloys are common workpiece materials. The single-end, centercutting design allows plunge entry and full slot milling. The 40-degree high helix angle promotes chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces in tough materials, making it well suited for both side milling and light plunge cuts.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch Weldon flat shank. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and hard materials as designated by material codes M, S, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool change procedure follows the machine manufacturer's guidelines before mounting or removing the end mill. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the toolholder and tighten the set screw against the flat to prevent axial pullout during cutting. Verify runout does not exceed the specified TIR maximum of 0.0005 inch after mounting before beginning a cut.
