The SECO 17004134 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, a 0.0200-inch corner radius, and four right-hand spiral flutes with a 40-degree high helix angle. The cutting edge measures 7/8 inch (0.8750 inches) in length of cut, and the tool runs 2.5 inches overall length. An AlCrN (aluminum chromium nitride) PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, making this end mill well-suited for prolonged cuts in hard and abrasive workpiece materials. It is centercutting and configured for both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials are the primary workpiece materials. The STR440 series is engineered for short-flute, high-rigidity applications requiring tight dimensional tolerances. The 3/8-inch Weldon flat shank mounts in standard toolholders. It is a single-end tool with right-hand cutting direction and normal pitch flute spacing, appropriate for production environments and job shop applications where tool life in difficult materials is a priority.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch Weldon flat shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials including stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (material codes M, S, H). Part of the SECO STR440 series.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is securely torqued into the toolholder before operation. Verify runout does not exceed the 0.0005-inch TIR maximum prior to cutting. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when handling carbide tooling.
