The SECO 17003797 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. Part of the SB335 series, it features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, three flutes, and a 35-degree medium helix angle. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating improves heat resistance and tool life when cutting ferrous and hard materials. This end mill handles both roughing and finishing passes in a single-end configuration with a right-hand cutting and flute direction. It is suited for use in CNC machining centers and conventional milling machines where dimensional accuracy and surface finish matter.
This end mill is engineered for cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The 1 inch length of cut and 2.5 inch overall length make it well suited for moderate-depth cavity work, contour milling, and profiling operations. The Weldon flat shank provides a secure, non-slip grip in standard Weldon-style tool holders. The standard length type and single-end design make it a practical choice for everyday production and job-shop environments where reliable tool life in tough materials is a priority.
Designed for use in Weldon-style tool holders accepting a 3/8 inch shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (material codes P, M, S). Part of the SECO SB335 series; manufacturer catalog number SB335-0.375-D3-B.3-Z3.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Verify the Weldon flat is properly aligned with the set screw in the tool holder before tightening to prevent axial pull-out. Confirm runout does not exceed the specified TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches after tool installation to maintain dimensional accuracy and tool life.
