The SECO 17003796 is a solid carbide ball end mill from the SB335 series, designed for high-performance milling of steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The tool features a 3/8-inch diameter, a 1/2-inch length of cut, and three spiral flutes with a 35-degree medium helix angle. An AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating adds thermal resistance and wear protection, making this mill well suited for aggressive material removal and finish passes in demanding applications. The single-end, right-hand cutting and flute direction configuration is standard for conventional milling setups.
This ball end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where close-tolerance 3D contouring, profiling, and slotting are required. The stub-length classification and Weldon flat shank provide rigidity and secure tool holding at the 3/8-inch shank diameter. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing operations on ferrous metals, stainless grades, and difficult-to-machine superalloys and titanium alloys. Machinists and tool-room professionals in production and job-shop environments are the primary users.
Designed for use on CNC machining centers and milling machines with standard Weldon flat tool holders accepting a 3/8-inch shank. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium (S) per ISO material classification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Secure the Weldon flat shank fully in a matching end mill holder and tighten the set screw against the flat to prevent axial pullout. Verify runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0005 inches before commencing a cut. Always ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before inserting or removing the tool.
