The SECO 17003781 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Part of the SB335 series, it features a 1/8 inch diameter with a 1/2 inch length of cut and a 35-degree medium helix angle. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection during demanding cutting operations. With three flutes and a right-hand spiral flute direction, this tool supports both roughing and finishing material removal in a single-end configuration. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this style of end mill for contoured and profile milling where a ball nose geometry is required.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers handling ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The long length type and 1/2 inch reach length make it appropriate for applications requiring extended access into pockets or along profiled surfaces. The straight cylindrical shank with a 1/8 inch diameter seats directly into standard collet systems. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist coolant should be applied externally. The SB335 series targets applications in steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals where a compact, coated carbide tool is needed.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide ball end mill for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with compatible collet or toolholder systems accepting a 1/8 inch straight shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or toolholder. Ensure the collet bore matches the 1/8 inch shank diameter and that the tool is seated to the correct gauge length before tightening. Follow machine manufacturer torque specifications for the collet nut and inspect runout after installation; maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0005 inches.
