The SECO 17003624 is a single-end square end mill designed for demanding metal removal across a broad range of workpiece materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide with an AlTiN coating, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention in high-speed applications involving steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. The tool runs a 45-degree helix angle with spiral fluting and is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry. Five flutes provide an aggressive chip load capacity while maintaining good surface finish. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation match standard spindle setups.
This end mill is suited for milling operations in job shop, production machining, and toolroom environments. It belongs to the SECO Series S545 stub-length lineup, which prioritizes rigidity over extended reach. The 1-inch diameter and 1-1/4-inch length of cut make it appropriate for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling in materials that generate high cutting temperatures. The straight 1-inch shank seats in standard ER or side-lock toolholders common on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed for use in standard 1-inch straight-shank toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Rated for primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, S, N, and H, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before installing or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder and verify runout does not exceed the 0.0005-inch maximum TIR rating before cutting. Follow the machine manufacturer and toolholder torque guidelines for the collet or set screw style in use.
