The SECO 17003616 is a single-end square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN, it handles a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. The tool runs a 5-flute spiral configuration with a 45-degree helix angle and right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry. It belongs to SECO Series S545 and is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators in production and job shop environments.
This end mill fits standard milling machine spindles and CNC machining centers accepting a 5/8 inch straight shank. It is suited for slotting, profiling, and finishing operations across the listed workpiece material categories. The 1-5/8 inch length of cut and 3-1/2 inch overall length make it appropriate for moderate-depth cuts in vertical and horizontal machining center setups. The AlTiN coating provides heat resistance that extends tool life in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions common in steel and high-temp alloy work.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 5/8 inch straight shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials per material codes P, M, K, S, N, and H.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool changer or collet system locked out before inserting or removing the end mill. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder matched to the 5/8 inch shank diameter to avoid runout exceeding the rated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches. Verify shank seating depth and tool runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut.
