The SECO 17003615 is a single-end square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding trade and industrial machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN, it delivers thermal and wear resistance needed when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, hardened materials, and aluminum and non-ferrous metals. The 5-flute configuration with a 45-degree helix spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. At 0.625 inches in diameter with a 0.75-inch length of cut and 3.0-inch overall length, this stub-length tool fits standard tool holders and tight clearance setups. It is installed and used by CNC machinists, tool and die makers, and production machining professionals.
The 17003615 is suited for slot milling, peripheral milling, and plunge cutting operations in machining centers and CNC mills. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry into workpieces without a pre-drilled hole. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation match standard spindle rotation. Primary workpiece material ratings cover material codes P, M, K, S, N, and H, making this tool applicable across a broad range of ferrous and non-ferrous production environments. The straight shank at 0.625 inches accommodates standard collet chucks and end mill holders common in both job shop and production floor settings.
Designed as an OEM-style production end mill in the SECO Series S545 line. Compatible with standard 5/8 inch collet chucks, ER collet systems, and end mill holders accepting a 0.625-inch straight shank.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Verify runout does not exceed the TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches after seating in the holder. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for feed rate, speed, and depth of cut recommendations for the specific workpiece material and coating type.
