The SECO 17003614 is a single-end square end mill designed for precision milling across a wide range of metalworking applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), it delivers high hardness and heat resistance at the cutting edge. The tool runs a 5-flute, 45-degree spiral helix geometry with a right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry. The 0.5 inch diameter pairs with a 3.125 inch length of cut and a 6 inch overall length on a straight 0.5 inch shank. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in production shops are the primary installers of this tool.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. Its AlTiN coating and micrograin carbide substrate make it a practical choice for aggressive cuts in difficult-to-machine materials where heat generation and tool wear are primary concerns. The regular-length geometry fits standard toolholders and is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes on vertical and horizontal machining centers.

Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials per manufacturer designation codes P, M, K, S, N, and H.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. The tool must be secured in a clean, properly sized collet or toolholder and torqued to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before operation. Confirm runout does not exceed the rated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches using a dial indicator before cutting. Always verify spindle direction matches the right-hand cut designation before engaging the workpiece.
