The SECO 17003603 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding shop environments. It features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, five flutes, and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life when cutting abrasive or hard materials. With a 2.5-inch length of cut and a 6-inch overall length, this end mill handles standard-depth slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations. It is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in production and job-shop environments.
The SECO 17003603 Series S545 end mill is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute geometry are compatible with standard vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers and manual mills. The straight shank fits conventional end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders with a 3/8-inch bore. The regular-length classification keeps it appropriate for general-purpose work where extended reach is not required.

Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is clamped to the manufacturer-specified pull-out torque for the holder type in use. Inspect the shank and holder bore for contamination or runout before seating the tool. The TIR maximum for this end mill is 0.0005 inches, so holder selection and maintenance directly affect tool performance and life.
