The SECO 17003597 is a single-end square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding industrial and machining environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride), it delivers heat resistance and wear life across a wide range of workpiece materials. The 5-flute geometry with a 45-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. At 5/16 inch in diameter with a 2-1/8 inch length of cut and 4 inch overall length, it fits standard toolholding setups in CNC machining centers and manual mills. This is a centercutting tool capable of plunge entry.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, contouring, and pocketing operations. The AlTiN coating makes it well-matched for dry or near-dry cutting in ferrous materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. It also performs in aluminum and non-ferrous applications. The straight shank and standard fractional inch sizing make it compatible with common collet chucks and end mill holders used in production and job-shop environments. Part of the SECO S545 series.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with standard 5/16 inch collet chucks or end mill holders. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, N, H).
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a fully powered-off and locked-out state. Confirm that the collet or toolholder bore is clean and undamaged before seating the shank. Torque the toolholder to the machine and tooling manufacturer specifications. Inspect runout after clamping — TIR maximum for this tool is 0.0005 inches — and verify shank diameter tolerance before use to ensure proper grip and minimal vibration.
