The SECO 17003596 is a solid carbide square end mill in the S545 series, designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials. It features a 5/16-inch diameter, a 1-1/4-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length. Five spiral flutes with a 45-degree helix angle and an AlTiN coating deliver aggressive chip evacuation and heat resistance. The centercutting geometry supports both peripheral and plunge operations. This is a single-end, right-hand cut tool with a straight shank, suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills operated by experienced machinists.
The 17003596 is rated for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. The micrograin carbide substrate combined with the AlTiN finish makes it particularly effective in dry or semi-dry cutting conditions where heat buildup is a concern. It falls in the long-length-of-cut range category, giving machinists additional reach for deeper pocket and slot work within its rated LOC.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill for CNC and manual milling applications requiring a 5/16-inch diameter, 5-flute geometry in the SECO S545 series.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out. Use the appropriate collet or end mill holder rated for the 5/16-inch straight shank diameter and verify runout does not exceed the specified TIR maximum before cutting. Follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for the target workpiece material and confirm clamping torque with the toolholder manufacturer's specifications. Do not exceed the rated length of cut depth per pass.
