The SECO 17003593 is a single-end square end mill designed for precise milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 0.2813 inch mill diameter, a 5-flute solid micrograin carbide construction, and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting performance. The AlTiN coating provides high heat resistance, making this tool effective in demanding cutting environments. It is centercutting, allowing plunge operations, and uses right-hand cut with right-hand spiral fluting. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments install and run this tool on vertical and horizontal milling machines.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. The 5-flute configuration supports higher feed rates in finishing and semi-finishing passes. The straight shank and compact overall length of 2.5 inches make it compatible with standard collet and end mill holder setups on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The Series S545 designation identifies it within the SECO solid carbide end mill product line.
Designed for use with standard straight-shank collets and end mill holders accepting a 0.3125 inch shank diameter. Suitable for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and hardened materials as indicated by workpiece material codes P, M, K, S, N, and H.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the tool from its holder. Verify collet or holder bore matches the 0.3125 inch shank diameter and that runout does not exceed the 0.0005 inch TIR maximum before beginning a cut. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine builder guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut appropriate to the workpiece material.
